C’est la Vie is not your typical antique store. Set in a renovated auto body warehouse, this beautiful world of European treasures transforms you to Les Puces de-Saint-Ouen in Paris. Sara Wardrip, the owner has built a trusted and impeccable source for beautiful design for the home and garden.
Originally from Vancouver, Canada., Sara moved to San Diego in 1981. She learned to love antiques while working in a French antique store while attending university. After marrying her husband Eric, she decided she wanted to open her own shop. Sara took her first buying trip to Europe in 1998 and returned with a 40 ft container full of English and French antiques, and her dream was born.
After outgrowing several locations, she settled into a large 6000 Sq ft warehouse in an industrial area near San Diego. This is where C’est la Vie showcases her eclectic collection of imports from Italy, France and Sweden. Sara and her husband travel on regular trips to Europe returning with containers full of unique, quality pieces. Buying consistently in Europe is what separates C’est la Vie apart from other antique dealers in the area. It keeps the collection fresh and up to date.
Sara believes that the beauty of antiques is that you don’t have to have an entire house of them; you just need a few signature pieces to make a statement. The collections you find at C’est la Vie of 18th and 19th Century formal and painted pieces, will make that statement.
